National County Government Month

Peoria County is celebrating National County Government Month (NCGM) this April. NCGM is an annual recognition month sponsored by the National Association of Counties and this year's theme is "Brilliant Ideas at Work." Peoria County offers opportunities throughout the month for citizens to learn more about county government. Residents are encouraged to participate in one or more of the following free events.

Peoria County Board Meeting
Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m.
Peoria County Courthouse RM 403
The public is encouraged to attend monthly County Board meetings and committee meetings throughout the year to observe elected policy-makers in action. Meeting agendas are available prior to the monthly meeting at

Heddington Oaks Hosts Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m.
Heddington Oaks, 2223 W. Heading Ave, West Peoria
Heddington Oaks will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. This free event allows residents of Heddington Oaks to share the holiday with the community. Easter Egg hunts will be staggered by age groups.

Hands Around the Courthouse
Friday, April 21 at Noon      
Peoria County Courthouse Plaza
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Youth Services Network Panel is hosting its Tenth Annual "Hands Around the Courthouse" event to draw attention to the 874 child abuse and neglect cases currently pending in Peoria County. Guest speakers will emphasize the importance of child abuse prevention. People attending the event are encouraged to wear blue and will join hands around the plaza fountain to show their support of local prevention efforts.
