Peoria County GIS: Downloadable Data

The Peoria County GIS Division has access to many various GIS datasets. In anticipation to the new Illinois 2010 FOIA laws we are establishing this website to provide a place for the general public to access some of the most popular datasets.

This data is available freely on the US Census website, but it's buried under lots of links and menus. Please note these are shapefiles unless otherwise noted. These shapefiles have NO demographic information in them, they are simply the census basemap called TIGER files. For an data dictionary or explanation of attributes please visit the US Census Bureau.

This first package is exactly as downloaded for the Bureau's website. It is in Lat/Long WGS 84 projection.

I modified this second package to be in our local coordinate system, Illinois State Plane West with foot as the unit.

The third and final census data package does not contain shapefiles. I have created an ESRI published map file to see these layers. An installation of ESRI ArcReader is required to view the map, is it free with registration. Please refer to the Read_Me.txt file within the download for more information.
