The Peoria County Board for the Care and Treatment of Persons with a Developmental Disability is a unique collaborative partnership dedicated to serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. The Care and Treatment Board collaborates with provider agencies to provide service coordination, resources for client services and funds.

The following agencies receive funds from the Care and Treatment Board to provide services to Peoria County Residents with developmental disabilities:

  • Community Workshop and Training Center to provide Community Employment Services and Health and Safety Awareness Training
  • Easter Seal to provide reimbursement for non-reimbursable services provided by the Autism Spectrum Diagnostic Clinic, funds to the resource center to provide non-traditional service hours and educational materials and in-home services to families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders through the Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters Project.
  • Parc to provide Rehabilitation Services and Assistive Technology Services.
  • Camp Big Sky for expansion and improvements of infrastructure of camp for children and adults with special needs.

The goal of the Care and Treatment Board is to enrich the lives and protect the health and welfare of Peoria County residents with developmental disabilities by continuing to support quality family and community- based services for Peoria County residents.

The Care and Treatment Board continues to serve families and their children 0-3 who enter the Early Intervention System through Child and Family Connections, where eligibility for early intervention services are determined and services offered which include one or more of the following:

Child and Family Connections also assures the development of an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) to help the child learn and grow, links families to needed services and providers, ensures follow-up and assists in transition between services and to school by age three.
