|What we do||
Peoria County Government adopted a Strategic Plan in 2001 and identified as one of its top five goals a strong desire to partner with our citizens. Therefore, we have recently developed new programs to help us build and strengthen partnerships with you; programs that either educate the community on county government or include the community in county government.
As a public service agency, Peoria County offers a variety of free programs to increase citizen engagement in local government. Our Civic Leadership Program offers citizens an opportunity to spend time with Elected Officials and department heads, learning about our plans for the future, the elections process, our emergency preparedness efforts, and much more. Also, an Elected Official or department head participating on our Speakers Bureau will be happy to speak to local groups about any topic related to county government. Or, citizens interested in more active partnerships can volunteer for a department within the organization or, if a student, can become an intern for Peoria County.
These current programs are described in more detail by selecting the appropriate link to your left. Soon, Peoria County will be adding a County Companion program to allow local youth to shadow an Elected Official or department head as a companion for a day. Watch for that and more programs to be added to this website in the near future.
