National County Government Week
"Protecting Our Children" April 6 - 12, 2008

In 1990, the National Association of Counties initiated National County Government Week (NCGW) to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the nation's counties. The theme of this year's National County Government Week is "Protecting Our Children" and over 1000 counties nationwide will participate by offering various opportunities for citizens to learn how county government helps protect our children. Please check this website periodically for additional opportunities.

In keeping with this year's theme, Peoria County is offering events to demonstrate how we help protect our citizens' children. The following community events highlight our efforts to protect children in our community:

Peoria County's Recycling and Resource Conservation Department offers families a chance to learn more about the 3 Big R's: Reducing, Reusing and Recycling. Grab the kids and come play recycling games that will teach the entire family which items are recyclable and how to probably dispose of those that are not. This evening's event is a great opportunity to learn how recycling helps protect your children's future.
