Your Census Questions Answered

February 2, 2010 at 10:46AM (updated on February 3, 2010 at 2:23PM)

Over 130 million households nationwide will receive a 2010 Census questionnaire next month. Residents who have questions about their questionnaire, security or privacy issues, or the census in general can have their questions answered at a free public workshop on Thursday, March 18, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. The workshop, entitled "Census Day Is Coming!," is offered through Illinois Central College's Adult Community Programs and will be held at ICC's North Campus on University Street. Census staff will present the workshop.

The Census is a count of everyone living in the United States and is mandated by the U.S. Constitution to occur every 10 years. Households are required to participate in the census because an accurate population count ensures equal representation at local, state, and federal government legislative levels. In addition, over $400 billion in federal funding is annually allocated to communities based on population.

To register for this free informational workshop, visit www.icc.edu/acp and select "Special Interests" or call 999-4545.
