County Board: Tax Committee Addresses Assessment Issues

In response to recent public input regarding the property assessment process and the Board of Review, the Tax & EDC Committee requested a series of documents for its consideration in appropriately addressing the concerns raised. The committee further indicated that it wanted the public to have access to the same information in an easily accessible format. To date, the information provided includes:

A response to the committee chairman's request which addresses the rights, responsibilities, and roles of the County Board in the Board of Review appointment process.

A response outlining the nature of the working relationship between the Board of Review and Supervisor of Assessments.

A memo from the County Administrator addressing common assessment concerns raised and offering advice for future consideration.

The State of Illinois guide to the Illinois Property Tax System. As presented by the State of Illinois, "This guide  explains, in general terms, the main components of the Illinois property tax system and the people or agencies responsible for administering those components. This document is not a definitive interpretation of property tax law. Local assessment officials are the resource for specific factual information about property taxes.
