| What we do | The Peoria County Highway Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance and general upkeep of all County roads and bridges, as well as other roads upon which the Highway Department performs operations by agreement. Highway staff plows snow and controls ice, patches potholes, cleans and replaces culverts and inlets, clears brush and mows, sealcoats highways, repairs guardrails, erects and maintains highway signs and applies pavement markings. Additionally, Department staff members will advise Township Road District Highway Commissioners and municipality heads, prepare district plans when required, and supervise their construction when needed.
