Highway Department: Letting Information

Pre-Letting: Projects are advertised in the newspaper usually two weeks prior to letting.

Letting:

• Federally funded (MFT) projects - Projects are let by IDOT in Springfield.
• MFT, CA, or CB funded projects - Projects are let by PCHD in our office. Bids are typically opened by the County Engineer, but may be opened by an approved proxy in his absence.

The lowest responsible bid is accepted for construction.

Post-Letting:

• Transportation Committee reviews letting and passes project, which then goes to the County Board for approval.
• County Board reviews and passes project as let.
