EMA: Underwater Rescue Team
Established in 1973, the Peoria County Emergency Management Agency Underwater Rescue Team responds to water related incidents in Peoria County and has responded to calls in surrounding counties, including Fulton, Knox, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford.
The fourteen member volunteer team provides underwater search and recovery of missing persons, recovery of evidence related to crimes, recovery of equipment, aiding distressed/disabled boaters, and general public safety at water events.
In addition to being experienced divers, team members also have medical training and certifications. The team trains on a monthly basis. Training may included ice diving, search patterns, water spinal immobilizations, high angle rescue, weather, communications, and use of equipment.
The Peoria County Emergency Management Agency Underwater Rescue Team is an immense asset to Peoria County and the surrounding counties.
