Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) is celebrating Adopt-a-Cat Month this June. Each year, PCAPS receives more than 3,000 cats and kittens in need of homes.

Honoring Our Veterans on Memorial Day

A memorial ceremony will be held at Peoria County's World Wars I & II Veterans Memorial in the Courthouse War Memorial Plaza at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27. Steve Sonnemaker, Chair of the Peoria County Veteran's Memorial Fund, will speak at the ceremony.

Veterans, their family members, and the general public are invited to honor our veterans by participating in this ceremony.

Open House at Heddington Oaks

Peoria County is hosting an open house for the public at its new nursing facility, Heddington Oaks, on Thursday, June 6 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Peoria County elected officials will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for those who attend and the facility will be open for viewing. Heddington Oaks is expected to officially open and welcome residents in July.

Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady is pleased to announce the American Mausoleum will host a Memorial Service in honor of Memorial Day on Saturday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. Following a presentation by Vietnam Veteran Dearl (Skip) Morris, the American Legion Limestone Post 979 will conduct the Presentation of Colors.
