Peoria City/County Health Department has funding from the Peoria County Board for a Lead Hazard Removal Program. Guidelines for the program include lead paint removal from homes in Peoria County built prior to 1978, with a pregnant woman or a child under age 6 with lead levels. Examples of lead removal might include replacement of windows, doors, and/or exterior siding that contain lead.

Program Requirements for Occupied Properties:

Entry Door
  1. Peoria County residence
  2. Single family residence built prior to 1978
  3. Pregnant woman and/or child under age 6 with lead poisoning
  4. Resident(s) Income Eligible based on HUD guidelines
  5. Property Taxes current
  6. Historical, Flood Plain clearance
  7. Current Homeowners' Insurance
  8. Proof of Ownership (Recorded Deed)
  9. 3 year occupancy requirement following mitigation work
  10. Room Interior
  11. Forgivable contract after 3 years

Rental Properties:

Rental property owners must meet all of the above requirements in addition to:
11.    15% owner match contribution
