Peoria County Board of Health Appoints Interim Health Department Administrator

At a special meeting February 28, 2017, the Peoria County Board of Health accepted the resignation of Gene Huber, Public Health Administrator for Peoria City/County Health Department effective February 24. The Board appointed Nora Sullivan, MS, RN as Interim Public Health Administrator.
Sullivan has extensive experience in management, organizational leadership, and healthcare services. She has expertise in population health and served as a past President on Peoria County Board of Health. She worked at American Red Cross Biomedical Services and as a nursing instructor at Methodist College.
Jennifer Groves-Allison, President of the Peoria County Board of Health states, "The Board of Health has created a Committee to manage the Public Health Administrator recruitment efforts. During this process, we have a very experienced management team and staff who will continue their good work to improve community health."
Groves-Allison adds, "We are grateful to Gene Huber for her leadership through a challenging financial government climate. Under her administration, the Peoria City/County Health Department maintained the delivery of critical public health services affected by state and local funding issues while initiating a strategic planning process to position the Health Department for future issues. We thank her for her years of service and wish her well."
