Human Resources: Community Partners
As a public service organization, Peoria County believes it is important to be a good community partner; therefore, employees and their families are encouraged to participate in community events and fundraisers. Each year, we offer many opportunities to participate in group events and activities that not only benefit our employees but the community in which we live. Examples of family-oriented activities include County Government Night at the Chiefs' baseball game, outings to Bradley University basketball and Rivermen hockey, and county picnics or carnivals. Other events include annual American Red Cross blood drives, United Way Campaign events, and Community Health Charities fundraisers.
Many events offered to employees and their families are sponsored through the SPIRIT Campaign, an internal, employee recognition program designed to build a spirit of teamwork and partnership within the Peoria County organization.
S.P.I.R.I.T. Campaign
The County Board has identified values that employees of Peoria County Government are encouraged to espouse in their daily work activities. These values best complement the Board's vision for the community's future, reflect our core beliefs, and set forth performance expectations. In the SPIRIT of excellence, Peoria County employees exhibit and advocate:
- SERVICE
- PRODUCTIVITY
- INTEGRITY
- RESPONSIBILITY
- INITIATIVE
- TEAMWORK
Six times annually, employees are selected to receive a SPIRIT Award for one of the above values. Employees are nominated by their peers throughout the year for demonstrating excellence in service, productivity, integrity, responsibility, initiative or teamwork. Three employees are recognized for each value. SPIRIT Award winners are introduced at a County Board meeting, are highlighted in the County newsletter, and receive a package of prizes.
Employee representatives from all departments are invited to participate on the SPIRIT Committee. The Committee is charged with recognizing employee excellence, sponsoring family-oriented outings and events as mentioned above, strengthening employee partnerships, and raising awareness among employees of the County Board's SPIRIT values and expectations.
