Recycling and Conservation: City/County Landfill
The County and City of Peoria co-own the municipal waste facility (landfill) located at 11501 W Cottonwood Road in Edwards (off Route 8, near Wildlife Praire State Park). The second phase or Landfill #2 opened in 1998 and has an estimated 7-11 years of life remaining.
Highlights:
- Landfill #2 is operated by Waste Management
- Hours are: 7am-4pm Monday-Friday; 7am-1:00pm Saturday

- There is an on-site compost facility for residents to deposit yard waste.
- There is a recycling drop-off center on-site for residents to deposit: paper (including cardboard), plastic bottles #1 & #2, glass jars/bottles, and metal cans.
