Peoria County Sheriff's Office Releases Thanksgiving Enforcement Mobilization Numbers
Dec 7, 2016
The Peoria County Sheriff's Office conducted enforcement from November 14 - 27, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, both day and night, during the Click It or Ticket mobilization. The Peoria County Sheriff's Office joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.
During the mobilization, the Peoria County Sheriff's Office issued:
- 1 seat belt citations
- 3 DUI arrests
- 4 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations
- 8 fugitives apprehended
- 11 suspended/revoked licenses
- 11 uninsured motorists
- 7 speeding citations
- 1 flee or attempt to elude police citation
- 5 drug arrests
The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Peoria, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt.
“Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the violation,” says Sheriff Mike McCoy.
This law enforcement mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. For more information, visit www.idot.illinois.gov.
