Peoria County Sheriff’s Office: TRIAD
Mission statement
The mission of Peoria County Triad is to reduce and prevent crime victimization of the elderly through education.
What is Triad?
Peoria County Triad is a senior safety organization that focuses on reducing crime victimization of the seniors in our community. This is a combined effort between the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Peoria Police Department and other agencies in the community that work in senior services. We all work together to assess the needs and concerns in this community and figure out ways to address them and make sure your questions are answered. The areas of concern that we cover are safety related; identity theft, scams, frauds, personal safety, home safety, elder abuse issues and hoping that you feel safer within Peoria County.
History
Triad is a national program that began in 1988 when the National Sheriff’s Association, International Association of Chiefs of Police and AARP signed a cooperative effort to work together to reduce crime victimization and unwarranted fear of crime affecting older persons. The Illinois State Triad was formed in 1990 in recognition of the need to guide a state-wide response to the critical issue of crimes against older persons. The Attorney General placed high on his list of priorities the organization of Triads throughout that state at this point. In 1998 Peoria County Triad was formed. Since then we have grown and continue to work very hard to serve the senior community in Peoria County.
