State's Attorney's Office: Drug Prosecution/Forfeitures

Felony drug prosecutions are a specialized assignment in the State's Attorney's Office. The defendants in these prosecutions are usually drug dealers and users of illegal drugs. The drug prosecutors also conduct forfeiture hearings in which the State seizes money and property obtained through drug offenses and used in furtherance of drug offenses. Felony drug offenses are prosecuted in Courtrooms 221 and 222. Forfeiture hearings are held in Courtroom 203. Peoria County also has a "Drug Court" intended to offer selected substance abusers the opportunity of rehabilitation through court-approved treatment programs. Drug Court is presently held once per week in Courtroom 123.
