Sharon K. Williams is a life-long resident of the Peoria area. She was first elected to the County Board in 2012. Sharon is the Editor/Business Manager of The Labor Paper, where she has worked since 1994.
Sharon graduated from Woodruff High School, attended Illinois Central College, and in 1993 received her B.S. in Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration from Illinois State University. She has also graduated from the Illinois Women’s Institute for Leadership (IWIL) and the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce’s legislative program.
Sharon is a member of the Peoria County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Auxiliary. She has volunteered for the Heart of Illinois United Way, where she is a pillar society member. She served as former secretary and board member of the Heart of Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters and was a board member for the Friendship House and Global Village. In addition to serving as a Union Counselor with the Labor Council of West Central Illinois, Sharon has volunteered her time for the Union Construction Career Expo and the annual Labor Day Parade. She was recognized for her work in career development through the Peoria Educational Region for Employment and Career Training and was named to the 2001 Class of 40 Leaders under Forty by Central Illinois Business Publishers.
