Peoria County Treasurer Nicole Bjerke is hosting a representative from the State of Illinois ICASH program on June 3, 2019 and June 4, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event coincides with the first installment due date of real estate property taxes.
“Taxpayers may pay their first installment in Room G-15 at the Peoria County Courthouse,” says Treasurer Bjerke. “While they are here, they’ll be able to check to see if the State of Illinois is holding any unclaimed property.”
The Illinois State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division connects residents with their unclaimed funds. As of March 2019, there was approximately $31.2 million in unclaimed property for Peoria County, which includes citizens, groups and commercial businesses.
“The Illinois State Treasurer’s office wants to return property to rightful owners, which I fully support,” said Treasurer Bjerke.
No appointment is necessary. The Treasurer’s Office is located at the Peoria County Courthouse, 324 Main St., Room G-15. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
