Learn more about your local governments during our annual Citizens Leadership Academy, sponsored by the County of Peoria and City of Peoria. This free program will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from September 10-October 10, 2019.
Participants will tour City and County facilities and talk with elected and appointed officials. Our aim is to help citizens understand how their local governments work, the resources they offer, and the challenges they face.
Each session takes place at either a County of Peoria or City of Peoria building and usually involves a presentation, tour and time for questions and answers. Some sessions also provide refreshments.
Sessions will be held at the Peoria County Courthouse, Peoria City Hall, Peoria Police Department, Emergency Communications Center, Peoria City/County Health Department, Peoria Fire Department (Central Station), Peoria County Coroner’s Office, City of Peoria Public Works, and Peoria County Jail.
Applications are available at https://www.peoriacounty.org/448/Citizens-Leadership-Academy, Peoria County Courthouse Room 502, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications are due August 23, 2019. There is a limit of 25 participants, and participants must be at least 18 years old.
