Peoria County property owners will see assessment notices show up in their mailboxes next week. The Peoria County Supervisor of Assessments Office is mailing assessment notices to every property owner in the county, a practice undertaken every four years.
In other years, notices are only mailed to property owners who have had changes to their property other than through local equalization factors. For example, a home may have been reassessed due to the construction of a new garage or addition. In quadrennial reassessment years, all properties are revalued.
The letter details property values for 2019, payable in 2020. A schedule of mailing dates, broken down by township, is attached. It can also be found on the Supervisor of Assessments’ website: https://www.peoriacounty.org/502/Supervisor-of-Assessments.
Residents who have questions about their property assessments have until September 30, 2019, to file an assessment complaint with the Peoria County Board of Review. More information is available at https://il-peoriacounty.civicplus.com/686/Board-of-Review.
