Brandy Bryant is to be appointed Peoria County Board Member for District 5 at the October 10, 2019, Peoria County Board Meeting.
Bryant is the Program Director for Peoria Public School’s Full Services Community Schools initiative. Before joining Peoria Public Schools, Bryant worked in the field of early childhood education since June 2002. She has been a Lead Teacher at multiple early learning centers, and from 2008-2019 operated her own licensed home day care. Bryant also has a passion for coordinating social and community events, as seen through her work as an independent event planner since June 2018.
“The nomination of Ms. Bryant continues to strengthen the diverse knowledge of our board,” says Peoria County Board Chairman Andrew A. Rand. “She brings not only experience with early childhood education but also familiarity with running a small business.”
Bryant was born and raised in Peoria, where she graduated from Illinois Central College with an Associate Degree in Human Services Child Development and General Education. She has been a volunteer at Illinois Central College, Peoria Public Schools, and the Martin Luther King Holiday Committee of Peoria.
Bryant is the proud mother of two daughters, BreAija and Asiya, and one granddaughter, Devy.
The District 5 vacancy was created with the appointment of former board member Rachael Parker to the office of Peoria County Clerk on August 19, 2019. Bryant will fulfill the remainder of Parker’s term, which will expire in December 2020.
District 5 is in central Peoria.
