Betty Duncan is to be appointed Peoria County Board Member for District 3 at the May 14, 2020, Peoria County Board Meeting.
Ms. Duncan worked for Caterpillar for 35 years, before retiring in 2001 as a Customer Support Analyst, where she provided technical support worldwide. She has also served in multiple positions at the Central Illinois Agency on Aging, including as the Brookdale Foundation Coordinator for the support program and Relatives As Parents Program.
After transferring from Illinois Central College, Ms. Duncan went to Bradley University in 2015, where she majored in Art History and minored in Religious Studies.
She is an active member of Cornerstone Gospel Church, where she serves as a Deacon and the Sunday School Superintendent, all the while supporting the Ageless and the Nursing Home Ministries.
“We welcome Betty Duncan to the Peoria County Board,” says Peoria County Board Chairman Andrew A. Rand. “Ms. Duncan’s community service and lifetime of experience in Peoria will be an asset to her District 3 residents.”
Ms. Duncan was born and raised in Peoria. She is the mother of four sons and one daughter, a grandmother of six grandchildren and has been a foster parent to 19 children.
The District 3 vacancy was created after the resignation of Barry John Robinson. Ms. Duncan will fulfill the remainder of Robinson’s term, which will expire in December 2020. She is on the November ballot, running unopposed for the District 3 seat.
