Rachael
was elected on November 3, 2020 as the Peoria County Clerk. Prior to that she was appointed as the Peoria
County Clerk on August 8, 2019 by the County Board. Rachael was first elected to the County Board
in November 2010, representing District 5. With that win she had to resign her
position of 3.5 years on the board for Peoria Public Schools.
Before
being appointed as the Clerk, Rachael had served as the Economic Development
Director for the City of Chillicothe for 7 years. She is a small business owner of Sweet Cakes
by Rachael. With her prior involvements
on various boards she understands the connection between government, business
and education.
Rachael
is and has been actively involved in the community with her volunteering with
Big Brothers Big Sisters, Heart of Peoria Neighborhood Association, the
Neighborhood Alliance, the Black Business Alliance, a former Advisory Board
Member for the Salvation Army, a member of the Chillicothe Rotary and an active
member of St. Paul Baptist Church. Rachael is also a mother and a grandmother.
A
graduate of Bradley University, where she was inducted into the Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1992.
